Whatever Happened To Carefulness?
Whatever Happened To Carefulness?
Modern Pentecostalism, as a whole, seems to enjoy flaunting its perceived new liberties in the face of all caution. To them who have lived their whole lives in spiritual carefulness before God, this mindset is repulsive, dangerous and scary.
Why Does One Generation Feel Freer And Less Cautious Than Another?
- Are they more enlightened in the Word?
- Is this a New Day in the Kingdom of God?
- Has God waited nearly 2,000 years to remove every Biblical principle and restriction?
- Why are things considered right today that were wrong yesterday?
- Are they backslidden in heart?
- Why is there an absence of Holiness and things HOLY among those who profess the HOLY Ghost?
There is a horrible price to pay if what our forefathers said is right. Old school preachers said things like: “When you lose your revelation of Holiness, it won’t be long before you lose your revelation of the Oneness of the Godhead.” That dear reader is a very fearful thing.
It appears as if the spirit of the age is one that wants to see how much one can do and still feel saved and justified.
Too many church folks have been influenced by the style and fads of this present world. Sadly, whatever the new style of the world is on display, it soon will be seen in some churches. It quickly appears in:
· Men’s clothing
· Men’s hairstyles
· Men’s facial hair
· Women’s clothing
· Women’s hairstyles
· And even makeup
- Can anyone else remember when it was uncommon to see Pentecostal women wearing form-fitting and revealing attire?
- Can anyone else remember new converts changing how they dressed and lived soon after they got saved?
- Can anyone else remember when makeup was not acceptable?
- Can anyone else remember when women considered long hair their glory?
- Can anyone else remember when men didn’t dress in a manner that questioned their masculinity?
- Can anyone else remember the day when Consecration services were not uncommon?
- Can anyone else remember when no one who claimed to be in church wanted to look like or dress like they were in the world?
- Can anyone else remember when there was an absence of facial hair on the men that were in the church?
- Can anyone else remember when no one heard of young girls kissing other young girls?
- Can anyone else remember when the saints lived their lives carefully, lest they displease the Lord?
- Can anyone else remember when saints were not addicted to prescription drugs?
- Can anyone else remember when TV was a bad word?
- Can anyone else remember when saints didn’t go to movies?
- Can anyone else remember when jewelry was not seen on church folks?
- Can anyone else remember when church services times were not scheduled around a Super Bowl Sunday?
- Can anyone else remember saints being careful about what they read, what they listened to, where they went and whom they went with?
- Can anyone else remember when folks repented to each other and before God because they wanted to be saved?
- Can anyone else remember hearing sermons on Hell and Judgment?
· What changed?
· Did God change?
· If God changed, not everyone got the memo.
Carefulness Is Produced By Repentance.
That’s The First Thing True Repentance Does. It Makes You Careful.
2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2 Corinthians 7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
- Too many are not careful about giving God the tithe of their increase.
- Too many are not careful to manifest the Fruits of the Spirit.
- Too many are not careful about what they say, or whom they say it to.
- Too many are not careful about what comes into their homes.
- Too many are not careful to honor their parents.
- Too many are not careful to honor their pastor.
- Too many are not careful about their attendance to the House of God.
- Too many are not careful about their attitude.
- Too many are not careful to keep their marriage vows.
- Too many are not careful about their friend’s negative influences.
- Too many are not careful about where they allow themselves to go visit.
- Too many are not careful about the necessity of the Acts 2:38 Doctrine.
Sadly, We Have Gone From Carefulness To Carelessness.
I will have to answer to God some day. So, when I read verses such as these I feel cautioned to be careful.
Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Ephesians 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them:
The Holy Spirit Warns Us All About The World’s Influence Upon The Church.
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 Peter 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
I am sure most will continue to do as they please and feel very justified. That will be between you and the Lord on Judgment Day.
As For Me, I Choose To Finish My Days Walking Before The Lord As Carefully As I Can.
Oh, by the way, are you doing your best to be careful in your walk with God? If not, please join me.
What Happens When Conviction And His Friend Walk Down Your Street?
What Happens When Conviction And His Friend Walk Down Your Street?
What is your reaction when they actually stop, turn, and look directly at where you live. What is your reaction when Conviction takes the initiative and loudly knocks on your door?
What Happens When You Come Face To Face With Conviction?
· Oh, you’ll know him when you see him.
· He is instantly recognizable.
· Do you run and hide?
· Do you shake his hand and welcome him into your world?
· Do you slam the door of your heart in his face and lock it?
· Or do you act like no one is there and ignore him?
His sole purpose of knocking on your heart’s door was to introduce you to his partner, Truth, who stands quietly outside, waiting near the street!
Your first response may forever affect your future and your eternity. Respond wisely.
Reactions certainly vary in us all, nevertheless something transpires in each heart at that moment that forever identifies our true self. We are identified by our reaction or lack thereof.
· (There were three reactions to the crucifixion. Some wept, some mocked, and some watched.)
Something unique happened in us when we first recognized that Conviction was trying to gain access into the rooms of our heart and forever change how we thought, felt, lived, believed and desired.
When Conviction introduced us to Truth, we recognized Him immediately and our spiritual eyes were no longer blinded.
· Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
· Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
But to those who pushed Conviction and Truth out of their heart’s house and ordered them never to return, the future is bleak.
They find it easy to mock, reject Conviction and Truth.
· Their mind is made up.
· They do not wish to change how they live or dress for any reason.
· Doing so would mean losing most of their friends and admitting they’ve been wrong all these years.
· The ability to be stirred and changed is foreign to them.
· Guilt and embarrassment makes some bar their heart’s door.
· Shame makes some run and hide.
Rebellion most often gets vocal and calls Conviction and Truth names. He also has a problem with any of his neighbors, friends and family who welcome Conviction and Truth into their homes and will go so far as to ban them from their life as well.
The sad reality is, Conviction is not required to knock on your door once, let alone twice.
It Is A Great Honor. Treat It As Such!
· Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
· Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
· Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Change Blindness
Change Blindness
Wikipedia notes that William James (1842-1910) is the first person known to mention the lack of ability to detect change. He noted this in his book written in 1890, Principles of Psychology.
Researcher John Grimes began to use actual photographs in 1996 in his change blindness studies.
“A study by Rensink, O’Regan, & Clarke demonstrated that change blindness can have an effect even if the eye was fixated on a scene. In this study, a picture was presented followed by a blank screen or “masking” stimulus, which was followed by the initial picture with a change. The masking stimulus almost acts like a saccadic movement of the eye which makes it significantly more difficult for individuals to detect the change. This was a critical contribution to change blindness research because it demonstrated that a change can remain unnoticed with the smallest disruptions.

Magicians and illusionists are keenly aware of this human weakness and they capitalize on that fact. Satan, the greatest con-artist of all time, does as well.
Old men are known to fuss about change. Young men are known to laugh at the old men. I understand that. I too have been young, and now I am old.
There have been way too many who have refused to see or admit change in our churches today.
While some cannot see the change in what is ‘accepted’ and ‘permissible’ in Apostolic circles… a great many of us can.
If you are a Senior citizen that has been in church all your life, then you should know about:
Change that brings carnality to the forefront
Change that substituted rhythm, for worship
Change that is comfortable with programs instead of a move of the Holy Ghost
Change in what is now considered modest or holy
Change that wears form-fitting clothes
Change to the current acceptance of Hollywood
Change in attitude about faithful church attendance
Change in respect for the ministry
Change to not preaching against sin
Change in sermon content, from doctrine to pop psychology
Change in sermon content from including discipleship to outreach only
Change in attitudes about submission to the Word or to the man of God
Change to acceptance of organized sports
Change that is uncomfortable with services longer than an hour
Change to believing a prophet is only to prophesy blesses, healing and prosperity
Change that mocks the holiness minded
Change that loves jewelry and makeup
Change that doesn’t feel a need to pray all the way through
Change that is happy with change
My critics might suggest that I think that I am the only one that can see change. That’s not true. It’s just that I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by saying that I see what I see. I truly believe there are some precious people who are not purposely trying to change the good to the bad. They are not maliciously trying to put light for dark. I am submitting that even good people just have a case of Change Blindness.
Change Blindness is alive and well in Pentecostal churches today. That truly scares me when I think about what the future could hold if Jesus tarries.
Remember the Homeland Security Slogan… If you see something, say something. I just did.
I Didn’t Tell You, Because You Didn’t Want Me To.
I Didn’t Tell You, Because You Didn’t Want Me To.
The old preacher sat on a rock at the fork in the road. The many years of struggle showed on his face, and in the stoop of his shoulders. He watched as travelers passed him by.
Some of his preacher friends and acquaintances stopped a moment or two to chat before continuing their journey. Many came in groups, others by themselves, but they all walked down the road.
The children of his friends walked the road too, some of them walked with their parents, others walked alone.
Most everyone nodded in acknowledgement and smiled at him while continuing on their journey. A few stopped and sat on the rock beside him to visit for a while before walking on.
The old preacher noticed that a large number did not hesitate when they came to the fork in the road. They as if by some predetermination chose which path to walk.
There were those who paused and stared at the signposts, as if unsure. One or two fumbled for their map as if to verify which road would be best.
Those who still seemed unsure of which path to choose, changed from looking at the road signs, to looking at the other travellers. If by chance they happened to see a friend that looked like they knew what path to choose, they simply followed without further ado.
Every now and then one of the young travellers that stood reading the signposts turned to the old man for advice.
“Which fork in the road should I choose?” They asked.
The old preacher would look up at their sincere faces and without hesitation point in the direction that he knew was best. Some sneered, and walked down the other road anyway. Some followed his advice.
Occasionally travelers would return to the fork of the road to look at the signs again, as if to confirm their choice.
One young preacher who had walked down the wrong path quite a ways returned to the old man and began to chastise him.
“Why didn’t you stop me? Why didn’t you tell me that was the wrong path? Why didn’t you tell me how much I would lose if I walked down that path? Why didn’t you tell me I was in delusion to believe it was a better road? I thought you were a friend to my family, and me but you didn’t stop me and tell me which road to go! Why?
The old man didn’t get offended. He looked at the son of his friend, and then began.
“You know I love you, I love your father too. You know what road he walked down, but you felt comfortable in ignoring that fact because your friends and popular people have influenced you.
“I noticed you watching me as I pointed out the right way to others. You chose to ignore this old man’s advice.
“The reason I never told you personally which road to walk down is because you never wanted to know bad enough to ask. Maybe you didn’t want to hear the word, NO! I didn’t tell you because you didn’t want me to.
“If I had told you which path to choose without you asking, you would have taken that as an insult to your intelligence. You would have felt I was interfering in your business, so I held my peace as I held my breath.
“Those who ask for direction really want help. Those who don’t ask will soon need help. It’s a mistake of youth to reject the paths of their fathers in serving the Lord.
“You once believed your choices to always be accurate. Your delusion made it feel that it was God that was guiding you, now you have fear and regret because of your great losses. It’s the mercies of the Lord that you have returned to this point.
“The bad news is there are some things you will never regain. But, the final chapter has not been written. Remember hearing your father singing the song, “It’s Not the First Mile”?
“The real question my son, is now that you know which road is right, which one will you choose?”
With a thankful embrace and a sincere apology, the young man turned and walked back to the fork. This time he chose the one marked, “The Old Path.”

Pentecostal Spin Doctors?
Car Race Story
Mr. Madden, my teacher from South Bend Central High School, told a story one day to make a point during our Speech and Debate Class in 1961.
He repeated a story that TASS, the official news source of the U.S.S.R. had released during the Cold War.
The news article was a report of an automobile race between an American Ford, and an unnamed Russian vehicle. Only two cars were in the race.
The Ford blew the doors off of the Russian vehicle. Ego was at stake. The Russians refused to lose face, so they skewed the details, without actually lying.
TASS reported that in an International Stock Car Race, the American car came in next to last, and that the Russian car placed second. That type of reporting, Mr. Madden told us, was called Propaganda. Today, we are uncomfortable with using that term. We choose to use the word spin and those who spin, are called Spin Doctors!
Even Husbands And Wives Are Good At It!
Spin Doctors are not always highly paid professionals. Some are folks just like you and me. We may not get paid for doing it, but most of us have tried it on some level.
He – May Try To Put A Spin On Why He Needs A New:
- Boat
- Truck
- Deer Rifle
- iPad 3
- MacBook Pro
She – May Try To Put A Spin On Why She Needs A New:
- Dress
- Pair Of Shoes
- Couch
- iPhone 5
- Mini Van
The Old Testament Even Had Spin Doctors.
The Prophet Isaiah decried the use of Spin Doctors nearly 740 years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
This generation has nothing new in Spin Department. It was in use before the church was ever born in Acts Chapter 2.
To feel more comfortable in our waywardness, we mortals try to:
- Justify our sin,
- Justify ourselves,
- Justify our compromise.
Today, some Church Members have done it, some Backsliders have done it, and worse than that, some Preachers have done it too. God, especially, detests the work of Spin Doctors!
For Centuries, Some Have Wanted A Spin Doctor For A Pastor.
Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
Isaiah 30:9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
Isaiah 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
Carnal people have always wanted the preacher to leave them alone. “Preach, but don’t preach,” seems to be the message they convey to their pastor. Hirelings have no problem adjusting.
The New Testament Had Spin Doctors.
Paul Warned The Church
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Paul Warned Timothy
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Some congregations love the Pop Psychology they hear in the pulpit. But, deaf ears are turned to the preaching of doctrine. Not every congregation is willing to sing the song, “Preacher Preach To Me.”
Preacher, preach to me,
Preacher, preach to me,
whatever it takes,
I must be saved.
Preacher, preach to me.For many years I served sin
But a preacher preached to me.
I’ve come thus far, but not on my own
A preacher preached to me.Preacher, pay me no mind.
Preach it right down the line
There’s one thing for certain,
regard not my person
Preacher, preach to me.Preacher, preach it right
Lord knows we need to hear from Heaven tonight
The word itself is pure, there is nothing it can’t cure
Preacher, preach to me.
Preacher, preach to me
Preacher, preach to me,
Whatever it takes, I must be saved,
Preacher, preach to me.
Preacher, preach to me.(Lyrics and music by Bro. Wayne Lawhorn)
Jesus Even Warned His Followers Of Spin Doctors
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Judas Was A Spin Doctor
John 12:5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
Spin Doctors:
- Write Bible Translations they think people will like better!
- Hate to call sin, Sin! So they rename it or rephrase it.
- Think the mention of the Blood is not necessary.
- Tell you that fat meat is not greasy.
- Want their churches to be seeker friendly.
- Believe they can win more of the world by looking like the world.
- Are in Chat Rooms.
- They are on Forums.
- They have Facebook Accounts.
- They are found in Religious Organizations.
- They are also among Independents.
- They no longer say they spoke in tongues. They say they prayed in their prayer language.
- They no longer say they will baptize in you Jesus Name. They now baptize you, “Into Christ.”
No Apostle Ever Put A Spin On The Gospel Message. Their Preaching Was:
- Straight forward
- Simple
- No-nonsense
- Practical
- Their accounts were accurate and not self serving
- Their words benefited the reader
- Their advice served others, not themselves
- More importantly, it was truthful and anointed.
Satan Was The First Spin Doctor!
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
We all should have learned our lesson from this example alone!
Nathanael Was NOT A Spin Doctor!
John 1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
The Lord Jesus chose him to be a Disciple. He knew Nathanael could be trusted with handling the Truth!
In whom is no guile. That is the very first comment out of the mouth of Jesus when He saw him. Would Jesus be impressed with you as a disciple, because you had no guile?
1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
The Punishment Of Spin Doctors.
Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
The Truth Still Matters!
If I Were The Devil
“If I Were the Devil…”
by
Paul Harvey, 1965
I would want to engulf the whole world in darkness. And I would have one-third of the real estate and four-fifths of the population , but I wouldn’t be happy until I had the ripest apple on the tree. So I’d set about, however necessary, to take over the United States get important realtors like burnaby real estate and others to help me win USA and Canada.
I’d subvert the churches first; I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: “Do as you please.”
To the youth I would whisper, “The Bible is a myth.” [our note: I heard this from a humanities instructor when I was in college–a breeding ground for the sowing of wickedness into the minds of those that have to memorize blasphemy in order to pass the course and get out and go past conscience to continue doing what they are told.]
I would convince them that man-made God [our note: in college in a philosophy “class” I was told the lie, “There is no God.” That was a lesson in lies.] instead of the other way around.
I would confide that what’s bad is good and what’s good is “square.”
In the ears of the young married I would whisper that work is debasing [our note: Americans are pleasure-loving people. Some are obese from lack of work meanwhile others pay somebody to mow the grass while they go to the “Fitness Center.” The children sit in school all day and then in front of the tv for hours on end in the midst of broken-down toys and eating processed foods full of refined sugar. The children do not work. They have no skills. The body and mind need to be involved in work. We were not made to be idle. A day of productivity is satisfying to both young and old.], that cocktail parties are good for you.
And to the old I would teach to pray after me: “Our Father, who art in Washington…” [our note: America seems to become more communist by the second.]
And then I’d get organized; I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting, so that everything else would appear dull and uninteresting.
I’d threaten television with dirtier movies and vice versa.
I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could; I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction; I’d tranquillize the rest with pills.
If I were the Devil I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames.
If I were the Devil I’d encourage schools to refine young intellects [our note: the schools disrupt and destroy young intellects and parents look on in horror as their children disintegrate before their very eyes. Parents need to REPENT of the sins and BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ and OBEY his word and then they can be saved and rear their children correctly.] but neglect to discipline emotions: let those run wild. Before you know it, you’d have to have drug-sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every school-house door. Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing.
With flattery and promises of power I would get the courts to do what I construe as against God and in favor of pornography.
I’d designate an atheist to front for me before the highest courts and I’d get the preachers to say, “She’s right.” Thus, I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the Houses of Congress.
And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys, girls, and church money.
If I were the Devil I would make the symbol of Easter [our note: Easter is a pagan festival] an egg and the symbol of Christmas [our note: “Christmas” is a blasphemy] a bottle.
If I were the Devil I’d take from those who have and give it to those who want it, until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.
What’ll you bet that I couldn’t get whole States to promote gambling as the way to get rich?
I would caution against extremes: in hard work, in patriotism, and in moral conduct.
I would convince the youth that marriage is old-fashioned, but swinging is more fun; that what you see on television is the way to be; and thus I could undress you in public and I could lure you into bed where there are diseases for which there is no cure.
Then I would separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines and objectors in slave-labor camps.
In other words, if I were the Devil, I’d just keep doing what he’s doing.
The New Math Of Pentecost
The New Math Of Pentecost
When the Russians sent up Sputnik, American educators panicked. The National Science Foundation was expanded in 1957 to promote changes in science and math beginning with the Middle Schools.
The main thrust was to switch from the teacher, “instructing” the student”. Now, the pupils were encouraged to “discover” on their own. No more student recitations were necessary. The New Math was born.
- Teachers didn’t like it and the parents were up in arms.
- Books began to hit the shelves decrying the changes found in the new math.
Morris Kline, in Why Johnny Can’t Add: The Failure of the New Math, wrote that “with near perfect regularity, [teachers] applaud the return to tradition content [and] instructional methods, and higher standards of student performance.”
Wikipedia wrote:
Parents were concerned that they did not understand what their children were learning and could not help them with their studies. In the end it was concluded that the experiment was not working, and New Math fell out of favor before the end of the decade, though it continued to be taught for years thereafter in some school districts.
- Why the need to change from the old Arithmetic to the New Math?
- What was to be gained?
- Was the change because one generation didn’t like the answers they got from the older generation?
- What it because they were sick of be told what the answers were to the problems and wanted to discover them for themselves?
- Arithmetic is about numbers, and New math is about concepts.
The basic difference between the new math and the old arithmetic might be explained this way.
1962: (Arithmetic) A farmer sells a load of hay for $150. His cost in raising the hay is 2/3 of this price. What is his profit?
1972 (Arithmetic): A farmer sells a load of hay for $150. His cost of raising the hay is $100. What is his profit?
1977 (New Math): A farmer exchanges a set H of hay for a set M of money. The cardinality of set M is 150 and each element is worth $1.
- (a) Make 150 dots representing the elements of the set M
- (b) The set C representing costs of production contains 50 fewer points than set M. Represent the set C as a subset of the set M.
- (c) What is the cardinality of the set P of profits?
1990 (Dumbed-down math): A farmer sells a load of hay for $150. His cost of production is $100 and his profit is $50. Underline the number 50.
2010 (New Math): By cutting down a field full of hay, a farmer makes $50.
- (a) What do you think of this way of making money?
- (b) How will the birds and animals be affected?
- (c) Draw a picture of the field, as you’d like it to look.
Some Americans felt we were falling so far behind in the Space Race, so we had to do something to catch up. Evidently, (they thought) the old way isn’t working. So they changed. It took many years to realize their reaction to the problem only made things get worse.
How Does This Math History Lesson Apply To Pentecost?
To the older generation, looks at it this way…
The New Math Concept Of Not Wanting To Be Taught, Is Deeply Embedded In This Newest Generation Of Pentecost.
They freely flaunt words like, “relationship.” At they same time, they scorn the words, “commandments” and “rules”.
- They say they love the Lord; but they just don’t want to be bogged down with any rules.
- The New Math people do not welcome standards. They resent being told “NO”.
The New Math of Pentecost Says, “Every Time Jesus Met A Hurting Person He Chose A Relationship, Over Rules & Regulations.”
Really? Every Time?
- Jesus once said, “You are of your father the devil.” How did that relationship turn out?
- He called some, “Hypocrites? Did that hurt the relationship?
- He turned over the tables and drove them out of the Temple for turning His House of Prayer into a den of thieves? He made a whip and thrashed it at the people? Really now, does that sound like a normal relationship?
- Why would Jesus do that? Could it be those Jews were doing something wrong? Surely not.
A relationship with Jesus begins with our accepting His ways, not Him accepting ours.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
There cannot be ANY Relationship with God without Obeying His Commandments.
Brothers and Sisters, we MUST have a relationship with God. It’s imperative. It’s necessary. It’s extremely important.
- But if we do not obey His word, we have NO relationship.
- If you receive correction, you’ve just proved your sonship.
- And if you resented and rejected correction, you showed who you really are.
Hebrews 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
- What kind of relationship can we have with Him if we don’t want to do what He wants us to do?
- What kind of relationship can we have with Him if we reject His correction?
- Can you figure that out with your New Math?
Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
The New Math of Pentecost Says, “Rules & Regulations Have Nothing To Do With Sin.”
What is considered sin today anyway? What? Name it? Not much. Adultery? Fornication? Don’t make me laugh. Like you, I can read some Pentecostal’s Facebook pages too. There are some that openly flaunt the fact that they are in a Domestic Relationship. Yet they still go to church. Yes, they have a relationship, with God and they also have a relationship with who ever else is willing to have one.
- How many “Spirit filled” women in your church wear slacks?
- How many cut their hair?
- How many wear make up?
- How many have on more jewelry than a Dillard’s Christmas tree?
How many of these still feel they have a true Relationship with Jesus?
If rules have nothing to do with sin, then how do you know when you have done something wrong? Or is there any… ‘wrong’ anymore?
The New Math Of Pentecost dislikes the concept of being told anything. They desire to discover the things of God on their own. If they are not convicted, then it must not be wrong.
The New Math of Pentecost Says, “Rules Can’t Save You.”
They don’t have to give up much to live for God, since they they’ve been studying this “New Math of Pentecost Doctrine.”
Every Jake-leg in Pentecost now knows more than their pastor about the things of God. They’ll argue with him. They look for every scripture they can twist, to get out of living like a Holy Ghost filled person should. They are quicker to take what some compromiser on the Internet has to say about Salvation, than their own pastor.
New Math believers resent being told anything by a preacher, but they have no reservations about getting on Facebook and hollering at the top of their voice to all who will listen, saying that “Rules” are not necessary.
- They don’t want to be told. They just want to tell.
- Evidently, their condemnation makes them defensive.
- Rebellion, is what this whole thing boils down to.
The New Math of Pentecost Says: You Can Have A Relationship With God, Without Rules
My friend, Pastor Kenneth Bow said it well:
- “The Ten Commandments represent the two great relationships in man’s world.
- The first four commandments are about man toward God.
- The second six commandments are all about how to exist with our fellow-man.
- To love God and to love our fellow-man is the basis for the Ten Commandments. It provides the foundation for all man’s relationships.”

New Math? What Answers Did It Change?
- Tithe is still 10%
- Holiness is still required, no matter how hard you try to get around it.
- God’s Word hasn’t changed for this generation.
- He is still going to require of this generation, what he has always required… Being separated from the world. Not just separated from the world, but separated unto Him.
- It is still Holiness or Hell.
- The Bible didn’t change, just because you did.
- Well, one thing it did change. It seems, most New Math “teachers” don’t even own a suit. They dress very causal in the pulpit.
Man’s Interest In New Math Was Prophesied In The Bible
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
The New Math of Pentecost Proudly Proclaims That To Win The Lost:
- We should not teach Standards at our church.
- We should not teach, we should let you discover convictions on your own.
- We should not teach standards. It is easier to win the lost by dressing like them.
- We should not teach against Women to cutting their hair.
- We should not teach against Women wearing man’s apparel.
- We should not teach against wearing shorts in public.
- We should not teach against women’s low necklines and tight clothes.
- We should not teach against mixed swimming.
- We should not teach against Hollywood.
These New Math folks don’t want an old-time preacher to preach where they are living. They have a negative reaction to any Holiness preaching.
Why Don’t They Want To Be Told?
They are like a toddler about to do something Mommy already told them not to do. Then turning to their parent say, “Don’t you tell me don’t.”
Americans doing the New Math finally figured out that it was a mistake, and they quit.
Those doing the New Math of Pentecost may not be so fortunate. They may not find out they were doing it wrong until they get to the Judgment.
One thing for sure, you can’t tell them that. They want to find out for themselves.
*My personal thanks to Bro. Bow for making me think about the New Math, and how it applies to Pentecostals today.
Don’t Cast Your Pearls Before Swine
Don’t Cast Your Pearls Before Swine
Have you been trying to reason with Holiness haters lately?
Did you get surprised when they actually said, “I hate Holiness”?
Does It surprise you that they tell bold faced lies about you now?
Some of your old friends left the Message and went Charismatic? And now they post negative stuff about you on their Facebook page?
Former Apostolics been trashing you recently and saying horrible things about you and you have been unsure how to handle their hostility?
Here’s your Scripture for today.
Matt. 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Give this Glorious Acts 2:38 Apostolic Message to a person Hungry for God! Give your Treasure of Truth to someone who will love it like you do. Even Jesus thought it was a waste of time to ‘talk’ to some folks.
(Have you ever seen an Apostate come back to Truth? Me either.)
This Gospel is too precious. Don’t waste your time on those that God is through with. They wouldn’t love the Truth. So God gave them something they would love… Delusion.
