John’s Diet
John’s Diet
No one ever called him fat or even suggested that he should lose any weight at all. His silhouette didn’t embarrass him either. Yet, he still chose to go on a self-imposed diet. It is the only diet plan where the smaller one becomes the more God pays attention to you.
The John Diet actually has nothing to do with counting calories, going vegan, watching carbs or avoiding fat. On this diet, one can eat whatever they wish because the diet is only in the mind. That’s right. The diet involves the mind and not the mouth.
John didn’t explain his diet recipe in great detail to his friends. He only mentioned that he felt the need to go on one. He simply said:
John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
The Diet Of The Soul is the world’s most important diet. Today, the mindset of the multitudes caters mainly to the gratification of their own flesh. The focus of the last several generations has been about, “If it feels good, do it!”
John did a 180° turnaround from our modern thinking. He truly realized that the Kingdom of God was not about him, but it was all about Jesus.
The Apostle Paul gave his blessing on the diet saying, (1Co 15:31)… “I die daily.”
Humility, submission, yielding, surrender, obedience, and denying of one’s self are some of the basic ingredients for a personal revival. If the Spirit of God is to increase in one’s life, then there must be a sharp decrease of fleshly desires.
At the JCM Bible School Graduation of my sons Anthony and Bryan, the Commencement Ceremony was blessed by the advice of Bro. Glass. He mentioned that on his family’s old home place they had a pond filled with fish.
The problem with fishing in the pond was that the water was so clear the fish wouldn’t bite because they could see the fisherman. The only way to catch fish in the pond was to stand behind the tree. He used that as an illustration to the students explaining to them that the only way to catch fish for God, or win souls, was to stand behind the Tree.
When the flesh decreases, the Spirit increases. Don’t allow your flesh to get in the way of God’s plan for your life.

No Matter What You Say Now, You Will Bow Too!
At The Name Of Jesus Every Knee Will Bow
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
When we bow before an earthly Monarch, like a King or a Queen, we do it because we are showing submission and honor to their authority and position. The one we bow before may not truly know if we are bowing out of politeness, or out of submission. They may never know if they are actually loved or respected by the one bowing before them. No words are actually required from the mouth of the one bending the knee.
But upon a prophesied date, not only will we all bow before Him, but also with our mouth every one of us will confess and acknowledge that He, Jesus, is the Almighty God.
- Whether those of us who bow before Him go to heaven or hell afterwards or not, we all will most assuredly bow before him!
- It would be horrible to bow in submission before him, confess and understand who He really is, and then still be lost forever.
Why Not Bow Your Knee Before Him Today?
Every One Of Us Will Bow Our Knees Before Him Sooner Or Later.
It Might As Well Be Today!
Isaiah Prophesied That We Would All Bow.
Isaiah 45:20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
Isaiah 45:24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
Recapping What Isaiah Said… “There Is No God But Me”
- “Man made idols and gods cannot save anyone.”
- “There is no God beside Me.”
- “I’m a just God”
- “I am a Savior”
- “There is no other God but Me.”
- “Every knee shall bow before Me.”
- “Every tongue shall confess to Me.”
- “All that have fought against Me shall be ashamed.”

- Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
The Question Was Asked Of Jesus:
Where Is Thy Father?

The Whole World Will Realize Too Late That He Truly Is:
- The Almighty God.
- The Everlasting Father.
- The Great I Am.
- Alpha And Omega.
- The First And The Last.
- The Beginning And The Ending.
- The Savior Of The World.
- The Jehovah of The Old Testament Wrapped In Flesh.
All Pride Will Disappear On That Day.
- Great reverence and awe will prevail.
- Remorse for sin and unbelief will overwhelm every sinner.
- Shame because of their sins will make men and women fall to their knees.
But, For Most Of Them Will Be Too Little Too Late.
- Actually, today is the day of Salvation.

But They Will Bow Their Knees On That Appointed Day And Confess It Then.
- They will understand for the first time that he is not the blessed second person of a holy trinity.

Jesus Asked Peter Whom People Thought He Was.
Matt 16:13 … Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Matt 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Matt 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matt 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
The Apostle John Described Jesus Like This:
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
The Apostle Paul Quoted Isaiah
Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
- Everyone will be required to repent, confess his or her sins and failures.
The Four And Twenty Elders Will Bow Down And Cast Their Crowns Before Him.
Rev 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
We Will All Confess On That Day That He Is God.
Those who are willing to confess that Jesus is in fact God and His Name is the only name that will take away all sin, and are baptized in Jesus name just like Jesus told His disciples.
Those Who Are Baptized In Jesus Name Are The Only Ones Who Truly Believe That Jesus Is The Lord God!
This Is What Jesus Said To His Disciples Before He Departed:
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Luke 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Peter Repeated The Words of Jesus To Those Who Wanted To Be Saved.
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Here Is The Crux Of The Matter
They who have been baptized in Jesus name (It’s the only way the disciples ever baptized) are acknowledging and confessing that Jesus Christ is God.
When they are baptized in Jesus name, the gift of the Holy Ghost will be given to them and they will speak in tongues just like everyone in the upper room did on the day of Pentecost.
Every Knee Will Bow.
- Take My Advice And Join Me In Bowing Down To Him Now.
- You Will Never Be Sorry. Not Now, Not Then.
How Utterly Foolish To Know Such A Day Is Coming And Not Do Now What You Know You Need To Do!
It Will Be Too Late If You Wait Until That Day To Bow Before Him Without Repenting And Believing That Jesus Is The Mighty God!
Not Everyone Knows How To “Go” To Bethel
Not Everyone Knows How To “Go” To Bethel
Many people pass by Bethel on their spiritual journey. Some just visit Bethel. Few actually “go” to Bethel. Going to Bethel is by Divine invitation and should not be taken lightly.
For Jacob, Bethel was the place of his spiritual beginning. It was where he found himself, for the first time, in the presence of God.
Genesis 28:20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
Genesis 28:21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:
Genesis 28:22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
That experience birthed a covenant relationship between himself and the Lord. He vowed to pay God tithes of all he had. He vowed to serve Him, and asked Him to be his God as well.
It had been about twenty-one years since Bethel. A lot of living had transpired in Jacob’s life since then. He’d gotten married… twice. He also had a large family by now. A vast herd of sheep and cattle followed him as well. Jacob was considered to be a wealthy man. God had richly blessed him.
However, his wives continued in their worship of idols and the wearing of jewelry. They were even willing to hazard the wrath of their father Laban, and his band of fighting servants to keep them. They were devoted to their idol worship.
Then it happened! Out of nowhere, God gave Jacob an invitation of renewal. Actually, God commanded Jacob to move back to his place of spiritual beginnings, and build an altar of consecration.
Genesis 35:1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
Here’s All That God Said:
1. Go UP to Bethel. Going to Bethel is always an upward experience.
2. Dwell there. Don’t just visit or pass by. Move there! Get back to that first-time experience!
3. Build an Altar. Develop a relationship with me.
Genesis 35:2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
Genesis 35:3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
When God told Jacob to move to Bethel and build an altar, Jacob understood what that meant. He didn’t have to have God spell everything out for him. He knew. He not only received the Word, he received the Spirit of the Word!
Put Away The Strange Gods.
God hadn’t said one word about putting away the idols hidden in his wives’ tents. Jacob knew they were wrong. He had tolerated them up to now, but no more. He knew he could not go to a place of spiritual renewal with idols in his camp. They must go.
Be Clean!
Clean yourself up! We’re going where God meets with people. Jacob knew this was the most important place in the world they could ever go to. Going as they were, didn’t seem right. “Be clean,” he commanded everyone.
Change Your Garments!
Jacob could see that what they were wearing was wrong. They all needed to wear clothing that was proper for the occasion.
So, Here Is What They All Did!
Genesis 35:4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
They Gave Him Their Idols.
There was no lamentation, no weeping, nor tears mentioned here. They just handed them over without making a scene. If you are going to Bethel, taking idols with you will void the experience.
They Gave Him All Their Earrings.
Where did that come from? Why did they do that? God hadn’t said one word about getting rid of their idols or their earrings.
Jacob hadn’t even said anything about getting rid of their earrings either. Yet, they handed them over to Jacob without ceremony.
They gave him all of their earrings. They gave him all of their idols. They not only received the Word, they received the Spirit of the Word!
Was There A Connection Between The Idols And The Earrings? Absolutely!
Hosea 2:13 And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.
Hundreds of years later, Hosea records the connection. The custom of wearing jewels and earrings was directly connected with the worship of Baal. The wearing of earrings was part of the ceremony in worship of that idol.
The family of Jacob understood that if we get rid of our idols, we might as well get rid of whatever goes along with its worship.
God didn’t say anything about it to them in that verse, but they did it anyway. They knew, and that was enough for them.
Jacob, their husband and father hadn’t said anything either, but they knew. So they did the right thing without argument.
Without The Holy Ghost
- Jacob’s wives responded.
- They were convinced.
- They were convicted.
- They gave up their idols.
- They gave up their jewelry.
- They changed their clothing.
- They cleaned up.
For This Generation, It’s Not Always The Same.
Many today want chapter and verse for everything. If the Bible doesn’t name their particular vice, entertainment, lifestyle, or sin, they feel justified in continuing. They will debate, argue, get mad, quit church, or move off, to maintain their lifestyle.
They will justify themselves on Facebook and comment with harshness. Some will debate on blogs as well, in their attempt to hold on to the things that will hinder their Bethel experience.
They only want to go by the Word! If it’s not mentioned, then it must be OK.
They struggle to get the Spirit of the Word!
If you don’t think earrings are an idol even today, just trying preaching against them. Many will fight to keep them on.
I Can’t Make Anyone Go Back To Bethel
- But God is inviting us all to go back to a simple place of renewal and spiritual restoration.
- Don’t wait for God or the preacher to name the wrong or the sin in your life.
- You should have enough Holy Ghost conviction in you to make you feel uncomfortable when you are not doing right.
Come On Church, Lets Get Right!
Come On Church, Let’s Do It Right!
Come On Church, Let’s Move Back To Bethel!
The Little Town They Call “Peace”
The Little Town They Call “Peace”
The traveler was tired. He limped a bit, favoring his right side because of the hole in his shoe sole. His worn clothes gave proof that his journey had been long and filled with much hardship. Exposure to the elements had darkened and weathered his skin. His eyes squinted in the afternoon sun.
The barefooted farmer stopped weeding his front yard and leaned on the handle of his hoe for a moment. He watched the man walking down the dirt road while he caught his breath. The traveler stopped and turned to face him.
With a warm smile he said, “Howdy.”
The farmer returned his greeting.
“Pardon me sir,” he said, “which way do I go through those mountains yonder, to get to the little town they call Peace?”
The farmer smiled back and turned thoughtfully toward the distant mountains. The big valley before them stretched for several miles.
“Well sir,” the farmer began, “since ya asked me about Peace, I reckon you already know it ain’t the easiest place for some folk to git to. But those that have a hankerin’ to find it, always seem to find it.”
“Yes sir. I’ve lived for years back yonder in a place called Turmoil. I was born there on Division Street, right beside Rumor Alley.
“Nothing but stormy weather there almost year ‘round. I just couldn’t stay another day.
“When I heard someone talk about this place they call Peace, I sold out and headed in this direction.”
“I see,” the farmer said as he walked closer to the traveler. Stooping down, he picked up a small stick, knelt on one knee and began to draw a map of sorts in the dirt. As he drew, he began to talk.
“You can’t get there without going through The Blood,” he explained while drawing with his stick. When you get through there,” he said making an “X”, “here is where you’ll come to Obedience Road. That is the main road and it is well-marked. There are some signs that have been posted along the way to help folk.
“Then you’ll come to Submission Mountain before long. Watch for the sign. It’ll take you on up through Patience Pass. You can’t miss it.
“Keep following that trail. It will lead you through the summit of Forgiveness. It’s a gentle town with good people in it.
“You ain’t got far to go now. Just past there a ways, a beautiful valley opens up. That’s where the town of Peace is. Right in the middle.”
The farmer drew another “X” in the dirt and then threw the stick away as he stood to his feet.
“Well, iffin it was me,” he said, “once I got there, I’d build me a house and never leave.”
“Thank you kindly sir,” the traveler said as they shook hands, “I don’t aim too.”
Take Me, Break Me, Make Me
Take Me, Break Me, Make Me
Take Me
- Receive Me.
- Don’t leave me on the pile.
- Choose me.
- Call me.
- I’m Available.
Break Me
- You use broken things, I’m willing to fall on the Rock and be broken.
- Not my will, but thine be done.
- I’ll say yes.
- David said – “Before I was afflicted, I went astray.”
Make Me
- Mold Me – Like a Potter molds a vessel.
- Make me an instrument.
- Prodigal said – “Make me as one of thy hired servants.”
- “Make me what I ought to be, help me to be more like thee.”
She Doesn’t Want To Live With Him
She Doesn’t Want To Live With Him
Is. 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
As a young man this scripture seemed unbelievable. I could not fathom a scenario where seven women would be desperate enough that they would fall all over themselves to have some man’s name.
I was thrilled to find one woman who wanted to take my name. But Isaiah speaks of a seven to one ratio. That’s a lot. I understand the literal interpretation of the scripture in it’s context. However, I see that verse in an additional light today.
The number Seven in Scripture may refer to more than just a number. It may also include in it’s meaning, things like perfection, completeness, and fullness.
In the Book of Revelation the number SEVEN is used throughout. There are SEVEN churches, SEVEN Spirits, SEVEN stars, SEVEN seals, SEVEN trumpets, SEVEN vials, SEVEN personages, SEVEN dooms, and SEVEN new things. SEVEN symbolizes Spiritual Perfection. All of life revolves around this number. SEVEN is used over 700 times in the Bible. It is used 54 times in the Book of Revelation.
All of that is impressive, but what about today? Christianity is demonstrating that verse in a very vivid manner. It’s quite easy to see it everywhere.
Many denominations believe in prayer and healing. They believe in miracles as well. They also pray invoking the name of Jesus to heal, to save, and to deliver. Some even believe in the Holy Ghost.
Most stop short of Holiness and the complete Acts 2:38 experience. Some have left the Acts 2:38 experience and turned their backs on Holiness and separation from the world.
It’s as if they are saying to the Lord:
We want your permission to use your Name in Prayer and in everyday life. But:
- We want to set our own standards.
- We want to workout our own life style.
- We want to dress like we want to.
- We want to make our own rules.
- We want to live the way we are comfortable with. Without undo interference in our life from your Scriptures.
- We don’t think all of your requirements are necessary.
- We ONLY want your Name.
- We don’t care to really LIVE with you.
And there, in my opinion is the sad story of this modern-day. They love the Lord and say His name. They wish to use it when they need it or get in trouble. They just don’t like ‘Living’ in His Word or in His world. They wish to continue in theirs.
Bumpy Roads
Bumpy Roads
Is. 40:3 A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.
Is. 40:4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.”
The Old Testament saints understood the Prophet’s words. He referenced the custom of Kings requiring that their chariot rides were to be made on smooth roads. Servants of the King spent much time maintaining the roads for their master.
If the season’s rains had washed out the road, it was important that the potholes and washouts be filled and leveled. All bumps were to be removed also. The road was to become straight… or level.
John quoted Isaiah and warned his generation to prepare the way because the King of Kings was coming.
- John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
We modern-day Pentecostals have an understanding of the words of the Prophet and of John the Baptist. The arrival of the Messiah was being announced. His servants were preparing the way.
There is one scripture that is often overlooked in the book of Proverbs, however. The same word is being used about man who is used about Kings. The word ‘straight’ is spoken concerning our personal life.
- KJV Prov. 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
- KJV Prov. 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
- NIV Prov. 3:6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
- GOD’S WORD® Translation Prov. 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths smooth.
The wisest man in the world understood that if we trust in the Lord:
- Don’t allow our own intellect to solve our problems,
- Allow God to take control.
- He (The Lord) will make our paths straight.
- He will smooth out our road.
Is your road a little bumpy right now? God is willing to make your life smooth.
