There Are Not Enough Hours in Your Day. I Get That.

You’re Overwhelmed With Your Schedule. Absolutely.

Your Plate Is Too Full To Add Anything Else. I See That.

I Understand That You Aren’t Able To Be Involved Much At Church Because Of Your Schedule.

So, I Won’t Ask Why You Weren’t At Church Sunday Night, Or At The Midweek Service.

I Also Noticed You Don’t Have Time To Help:

  • Drive The Sunday School Bus
  • Work The Bus Route
  • Teach Sunday School
  • Help In The Nursery

  • Be Involved In Ladies / Men’s Groups
  • Do Visitor Follow Up
  • Be In The Choir
  • Play In The Orchestra

  • Do Bible Quizzing
  • Be At Prayer Meeting
  • Make It To Pre-Service Prayer
  • Be Part Of The Youth Department

  • Teach Home Bible Studies

You’re Very Busy! Yet, You Find Time To…

  • Hang Out With Your Friends Regularly
  • Take Selfies At Starbucks And Nice Restaurants

  • Gossip on The Phone
  • Go Out To McDonald’s After Church
  • Stay Out Past Midnight
  • Play War Games On Your Computer
  • Baby Sit
  • Play Ball With The Church Group
  • Take Your Dog Jogging

You MAKE Time To Do What You Want To Do!

Let’s Talk About Who You May Not Want To Confront You In The Judgment!

Jonah – He was too busy and filled with excuses to obey God’s Call. He ran from his duty. God sent a storm to get his attention.

James And John – Left their nets and their livelihood and followed Jesus.

Matthew – Walked away from his Tax Collecting table and followed Jesus.

Doctor Luke Closed his Clinic and sent his patients away and followed Jesus.

Martha – Too busy to sit at the feet of Jesus.

Elisha – Was plowing with 12 yoke of oxen. He killed his oxen and made a sacrifice of them and followed Elijah, not even taking the time to tell his family goodbye.

Woman At The Well – Left her water pot at the well to go tell everyone about Jesus.

Ruth – Walked away from her family, her people and her gods, to follow after Naomi and her God.

Noah – Put his life on hold to obey God’s command to build an Ark.

Phebe – “A servant of the church.”

God Even Used Teenagers In The Bible

  • Mary – Mother of Jesus
  • Joseph –  Was 17
  • Daniel – Teen when captured. Became Prime Minister
  • David – 17 when he killed Goliath
  • Jeremiah – 14 when he started Prophesying and said  “Ask for the old paths”
  • Esther – When she stood before the king.
  • James and John – teens when Jesus called them.
  • Timothy – A teen when he began to work with Paul

The Inhabitants Of Meroz Were Too Busy Taking Care Of Their Flocks And Herds To Help The Rest Of Israel Fight The Enemy.

Judges 5:23 Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

This Society Wants Everything Given To Them.

They Think Life Is Just About Them.

As In The Bible Days… They Follow Jesus For The Loaves And The Fishes.

They Want Heavenly Rain To Fall On Their Lives, Yet Refuse To Send Up Any Vapor.

Today I Make A Plea For Your Involvement In The Work Of The Lord

Your Lack Of Involvement Is

  • Hindering Revival In Your Church.
  • Causing Apathy To Spread.
  • Cursing Your Soul.
  • Killing Your Pastor By Making Him Take Up The Slack.

How Can You Say You Live For God When Your Life Is All About You?

You Are Not Living For God, You’re Living For You.

Actually… It’s Not YOUR Life At All. You’ve Been Bought With A Price.

Deut. 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Does The Following Scripture Describe You?

Luke 8:14  And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

If So, Repent And Live For God With All Your Heart.

How Shall They Hear Without A Preacher?

leave a comment »

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Disclaimer:

Although I love and support Holy Ghost Radio, I do not represent them in any official capacity. I am not paid by them, neither have I been asked to speak on their behalf.

We Have Many Things To Be Thankful For This Year!

  • The Revelation of the Mighty God in Christ.
  • The Baptism in the Name of Jesus.
  • The Holy Ghost!
  • God’s provision and protection.
  • Our family and our heritage.
  • Our church.
  • Our health and our home.

One thing that may not have crossed your mind to be thankful for this year is Holy Ghost Radio! We all love it and have it bookmarked on our computers and have downloaded the app for our cell phones and tablets.

Every week for many years someone has mentioned a sermon or song they’ve heard on Holy Ghost Radio. No other Apostolic Pentecostal resource has been continually more effective in reaching the lost, edifying the body of Christ, and strengthening the church.

Pentecost and the world have been blessed beyond measure by the efforts of Brother and Sister Jeff Hoffer and Holy Ghost Radio.

Reports of listeners receiving the Holy Ghost or receiving the Revelation of the Oneness of God continually pour in. We rejoice with them, upon hearing these wonderful reports.

Twenty years ago, Bro. Hoffer felt led to make Apostolic preaching available to the world. It’s free for everyone to listen to. However, it is a huge expense to keep this service available.

Computers and technical equipment need to be upgraded to keep up with fast-changing technology. Technicians, programmers, and staff are needed to keep HGR on the air.

This Is A Voice That Must Never Go Silent!

While I have not been asked to make a plea for support, Partners In Missions are desperately needed!

Pastor… My Prayer Is That You Make HGR A Part Of Your Missions Giving!

As an individual, I have done a very small part by giving a modest monthly pledge. HGR needs us to show our Thankfulness to them by partnering with them on a monthly basis. (Have you ever noticed how God blesses you when you give to missions?)

Please consider blessing this missionary endeavor. Join me in helping them spread this Gospel around the world!

Below Is A Letter From Brother Jeff Hoffer To The Friends Of Holy Ghost Radio

Hello Friends,

Back in 1999, when the Lord directed us to begin a radio ministry, we launched out in faith. Our first conference was in 2002 and we’ve been going strong ever since.

2019 has been a tremendous year for Holy Ghost Radio and we could not have done it without you.

We are streaming Truth 24 hours a day, across the world and love hearing all the testimonies of souls being saved and backsliders praying through!

We’re writing today because we are in need of your help.

We are trusting the Lord to help us keep up with the technology to continue to expand, add new channels, pay for the overhead, the app, website, servers, streams, internet, and upgrade our computers to support all of our streams, add new ones, etc.

Technology is expensive and we really need more churches to partner with us monthly, to help us grow, expand, and keep up with the times.

We are extremely thankful for the WPF adding Holy Ghost Radio to its offering list for Global Missions.

Please consider a monthly pledge offering, either personally or through your church, to support Holy Ghost Radio by continuing to fund the gospel to every nation.

You can give online at holyghostradio.com and click donate or send in a check to:

Lastly, we’d like to let you know about an increase in our live conference fee, next year to $1,500 plus accommodations and travel expenses effective January 1, 2020.To save you accommodations & travel expenses you can go remote for $1,500

Thank you so much for being a faithful listener and supporter!

Sincerely,

Jeff & Jeannette Hoffer

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

1 Thess. 2:4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Allowed of God!

When I look at my life and realize what He has allowed me to have, to enjoy, to know, to see and to be… it makes so very thankful, amazed and humbled.

God Let Me:

  • Wake up this morning.
  • Live another day.
  • See my wife’s face one more time.
  • Have a sound mind.
  • Have strength to get out of bed and walk unassisted.
  • Still have a voice to praise Him.
  • Have a song in my heart about Him.
  • Have one more day to tell Him I love Him.
  • Have one more chance to go to His house.
  • Enjoy His Goodness

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

God Allowed Me To Have:

  • A revelation of the Oneness of the Godhead.
  • A revelation of holiness, inside and out.
  • Mercy and Truth.
  • A space and a place to repent.
  • My sins washed away through baptism in Jesus Name.
  • The Holy Ghost speaking in other tongues.

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

God Allowed Me To Have:

  • A wife who is loving, faithful and attentive.
  • Children who love me and honor me.
  • Children and their spouses who give themselves to the work of the Lord.
  • Grandchildren who are in church and live for God.
  • Loving and supportive parents, sisters and extended family.
  • Money to pay my bills
  • Extra to buy things I may not need, but I enjoy.
  • A house that is warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
  • A car that is comfortable and dependable.

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

God Allowed Me To Have:

  • A wife who loves me.
  • A wife who loves the Lord.
  • A wife who loves to go to church.
  • A wife who loves holiness.
  • A wife who never desired to imitate the world.
  • A wife who dresses beautifully and modestly.
  • A wife who prays with seekers in the altar.
  • A wife who loves to reach for the lost and the backslider.
  • A wife who sings for the glory of God.

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

God Let Me:

  • Have a heart that is so satisfied that nothing in the world is attractive to me.
  • See that He has never left me nor cast me away from His presence.
  • See my prayers answered and my needs supplied.
  • Walk through doors He opened for me.
  • Kept me from false doctrine and error.
  • Live in peace with my fellow brethren.
  • Enjoy the friendship of good godly men and women.

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

Jesus, I Will Always:

  • Need You!
  • Love You!
  • Thank You!
  • Praise You!
  • Serve You!
  • Tell Others Of Your Goodness!

I Don’t Take That Lightly.

World’s Largest Trading Post

World’s Largest Trading Post

Old Jim and me was a standing on the corner of Broadway and Straight Street one afternoon some years back. We seen this old man wearing sandals, and he had big sign hung around his neck for everyone to see. A curious crowd stood in front of him. They were reading every word of the sign on his chest.

The big words at the top of the sign seemed to say it all. The World’s Largest Trading Post!

People were reading out loud with amazement and near unbelief. It was hard for us to hear all the comments, but from time to time we heard things like:

“How can this be?”

“How can they stay in business tradin’ good stuff for junk?”

“There’s gotta be catch somewheres!”

“This is hard to believe!”

Not every passerby took time to read the long list of the day’s specials. Yet there always seemed to be a cluster of potential customers reading every word of the sign.

In answer to someone’s question about the location of the trading post, the old man tried to hold his sign steady with one hand so others could still read as he pointed with his other hand showing the direction. Looking where he pointed, I could see a large crowd moving that way. Almost all of them were carrying bags that sure looked awful heavy.

We waited our turn to get close enough to see the small print. I started reading from the top down, and I read every word.

“What’s your name old man?” Jim asked when he finished reading the sign.

The old man turned his attention to Jim and his weathered and wrinkled face seemed to have an inner shine. With a slight smile on his lips and a bit of a twinkle in his eye he said, “Isaiah”.

I caught Jim’s eye and gave him the nod. We both turned and started in the direction of The World’s Largest Trading Post.

There was this large group of folks just a singing near the entrance. They sang with smiles on their faces and joy seemed to fill their voices as they motioned for us to come inside.

They sang:

The windows of heaven are open.

God’s blessings are falling tonight.

There’s joy, joy, joy in my heart,

Since Jesus made everything right.

I gave Him my old tattered garment.

He gave me a robe of pure white.

I’m feasting on manna from heaven.

And that’s why I’m happy tonight.

Old Jim and me? Well, he looked at me and nodded and I nodded back as he shifted the weight of his bag to the other shoulder. I picked mine own bag up and we both went inside!

Puzzle Prayer Time

with 18 comments

Puzzle Prayer Time

The beautiful white-haired grandma sat silently beside me as our car rolled down the Interstate. Marcia Starr Ballestero, my devoted wife of fifty years, was letting her thoughts and heart focus on the needs of a family member.

Puzzle Prayer TimeSmall talk between us had died out when she picked up her iPad. From the corner of my eye I could see that she was doing it again. She does it at home too, almost every day.

She was going through her camera roll and albums looking for a specific photo. That’s her pattern. Today she chose one of our children and their spouse. Some times she chooses a picture of just one person, other times it may be a couple or even their whole family. Once in a while she chooses a picture of us.

The selected photo is then imported into her jigsaw puzzle app. Her gentle fingers begin to move over the hundreds of pieces. She moves them here and there trying to make them fit where she thinks they should go.

Her puzzles may last an hour or two, sometimes longer. The attraction she has for puzzles isn’t so much her love for games, but it actually is part of her family prayer time.

As she moves each piece of the puzzle into place, she is praying silently. She is praying for every aspect of their life. She prays for their soul, their marriage, their health, their finances and their home.

I do my best not to interrupt her puzzle prayer time. She methodically attempts to make pieces fit in place. Often she gets it right the first time. Other times not. When it becomes a trial and error project, it is like real-life to her. Her prayer focus is on the missing pieces in that person’s picture. Loving fingers slide over the face, sometimes the heart and then lingers a moment.

  • I wonder, is she praying for their heart?
  • Is she praying for them to make right decisions?
  • Is she praying for God to keep them safe?
  • I never ask.

When she is finished, she will hold the photo up for me to see. When I compliment her on the beautiful picture, she smiles. I know that there was a lot of love and prayer put into that puzzle. How much? Only God and her know.

No one else in our family knows about this. Our children and grandchildren do not even know. But heaven knows that there is a loving Mother and Grandmother who is trying to make the pictures of her family turn out right by asking for God’s help to find the missing pieces and put them in the right place.

Forty Years Of What’s This?

with 9 comments

Forty Years Of What’s This?

Imagine living with “I don’t know what this is” situation for nearly a lifetime. Israel did in the wilderness. They woke up one morning and were presented with something they had never seen or ever heard about. It didn’t go away. It perplexed them.

Manna – What Is This?

King James

www.memrise.comExo. 16:14 And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.

Exo. 16:15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

Jubilee Bible 2000

Exo. 16:15 And when the sons of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna (What is it?): for they did not know what it was. Then Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.

New International Version

Exo. 16:14 When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the LORD has given you to eat.

Living With Things We Don’t Understand May Be What God Gave Us To Eat For Now.

  • Some of us live a lifetime with I Don’t Know.
  • We all have lived with things we don’t understand.
  • We all are asked to partake of things that don’t make sense.
  • We live a life surrounded by perplexing things.

The Very Thing They Didn’t Understand And Got Tired Of… Was The Thing That Preserved And Sustained Them In The Wilderness.

  • Complainers are everywhere.
  • Some would rather have the leeks and garlic diet of Egypt.
  • They wanted things like it used to be.
  • All of them wanted meat and not more of What’s This?

How Long Have You Gone Through Something And Didn’t Know When Or If It Would Ever End?

  • You couldn’t see the purpose or benefit?
  • Cancer.
  • Health issues.
  • Financial problems.
  • Marriage problems.
  • Hurts.
  • And besides, you would have rather have any thing else but this.

Once Israel Reached The Place God Promised Them, The Manna Ceased

Joshua 5:12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

  • There was a day when it ended for them. There will be a day when yours ends too.

What Israel Didn’t Know.

  • The thing they complained about.
  • The thing some even refused to eat.
  • The thing they felt forced to live with for forty years…

…Was Angel Food

Psa 78:25 Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.

  • Be careful about your complaints to God.
  • Be careful of your attitude when you live with things you don’t understand.

It Could Just Be That God Is Giving You Angel Food.

You Look Beautiful!

with 2 comments

You Look Beautiful!

Those words are welcome to most ears. But, if you are like me, don’t hold your breath waiting for someone to say it. It is a very nice compliment but it is not always believable. We may not feel very beautiful at that moment, but the sentiment is always enjoyed.

We humans call a lot of things beautiful. But, we must be pretty shallow to throw the term around so easily. We look at:

  • People
  • An old 57 Chevy
  • Sunsets
  • Puppies
  • Grandma’s old china
  • A poem
  • Every bride
  • An eight point buck
  • Red cowgirl boots
  • Every selfie on Facebook

…And say the word, beautiful.

Men say those words to and about women. Sometimes women even say them to other women. Before the words are said, a quick examination of the recipient’s hair, face, smile, attitude, body and clothes is given before offering such a compliment.

The Even Bible Mentions A Few Beautiful Women

  • Sarah was “a fair woman to look upon,”
  • Lot’s daughters Jemima, Kezia and Karenhappuch were called the fairest in the land.
  • Rachel, Jacob’s beloved was the first woman called beautiful in the Bible.

Beauty Products

According to jezebel.com over $38,600,000,000 is spent annually on cosmetics. (They also give a breakdown about the amounts of money that men and women spend each year and their low degree of happiness as a result.) It seems that most people are willing to spend a lot of money to have someone call them beautiful.

http://jezebel.com/5931654/americans-spend-billions-on-beauty-products-and-are-still-pretty-unhappy/

Why Not Choose To Have God Call You Beautiful?

Wouldn’t it be the ultimate compliment if God looked at us and said, “You look beautiful”?

What some folks think looks beautiful isn’t beautiful to God at all. He even uses the word abomination. For example, a woman wearing a man’s apparel doesn’t look beautiful to The Lord.

Carnal Pentecostal women have even been overheard telling their church sisters that they are out of style and that they dress like a grandma. They believe that to look beautiful, a lady should be current in her style of dress and wear clothes that showcase her anatomy more.

These people are called vain because they seek to be beautiful to the opposite sex and crave the attention and compliments of others. Since what we mortals call beautiful is not always what The Lord God calls beautiful. What then does God call beautiful?

I know His Word says that he made “everything beautiful in its time.” Our understanding of that broad statement is very limited at best because we see some things that do not appear beautiful to us. If we pay attention though, He does name some things that he calls beautiful.

God Calls The Church Beautiful.

Psalm 96:6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Song of Songs 6:10 Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?

Psalm 48:2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

Beauty Tip # 1: Are you part of His church? Then you’re beautiful to God.

God Calls Preaching Beautiful.

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Beauty Tip # 2: Don’t criticize what God calls beautiful!

God Calls Salvation Beautiful.

Psalm 149:4 For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Beauty Tip # 3: If you have obeyed Acts 2:38 by repenting, being baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ and have received the Holy Ghost speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance… Then God has made you beautiful.

God Calls Holiness Beautiful.

Psalm 96:9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

Psalm 29:2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

2 Chronicles 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.

Beauty Tip # 4: If you live a modest and godly life of separation from the world then God looks at you and calls you beautiful.

God Calls Long Hair On A Woman Beautiful.

1 Corinthians 11:13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

1 Corinthians 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Beauty Tip # 5: When women allow their hair to grow long and pray. God calls that beautiful.

God Calls Worship Beautiful.

Psalm 33:1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

Psalm 147:1 Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

Beauty Tip # 6: When worshippers lift up His name in praise, God calls that beautiful.

God Calls Watching His Children Be The Blessed, Beautiful.

Ecclesiastes 5:18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.

Beauty Tip # 7: When you are able to enjoy His blessings in daily life, God calls that beautiful.

You Want To Know What Is Really Beautiful To Me?

Jesus Is Beautiful to Me

Isaiah gave us an advance notice that something beautiful is about to happen when he prophesied about the coming Messiah.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Word ‘Wonderful’ Is Another Synonym For Beautiful!

He Is Altogether Lovely

Song of Songs 5:16 … yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.
